Notes from Susan Hogbin, our Food & Beverage Service Manager…….The cool weather is keeping the tomatoes from ripening but we are harvesting lots of swiss chard, kale, beets, carrots, cabbage and the most incredible patty pan squash. (shown here).
Friday night’s feature in the Wild Blue Yonder was “Osso Bucco” first made as a farmhouse dish in the early 19th century in Milan. Slowly braised and served with mashed potatoes and a red wine jus, accompany with a glass of Malivoire Small Lot Gamay wine…a truly heartening way to start the weekend.
Susan offers excellent wine tasting events for those who want to learn more about the wines they enjoy and even more about those they are not familiar with….private parties may be booked. Susan enjoys sharing her favourite garden harvest recipes and suggesting a suitable wine accompaniment. Stay tuned for more food news from Susan throughout the summer/fall – or better yet – visit The Hearthside Room and meet her in person.
